dc.description.abstractParacetamol is one of the most common analgesic and antipyretic for relieving headache and fever. Prolonged use of paracetamol in high dose can produce liver necrosis and damage the kidney. Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) has the ability to prevent liver necrosis. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the hepatoprotector effects of water extract of Rosella in lowering the transaminase acitivity and to examine its ability in regenerating the necrosis of hepatocyte on rats induced by high dose of paracetamol. The change in liver function was determined by microsopical observation with AST (aspartat transaminase) and ALT (alanin transaminase) level. AST and ALT Enzyme analysis was performed using IFCC method. Preparates for histopathology assay were made using modified Andrew Kent method. The induction of rosella water extract with dosage of 1,1 g/mL extract/kg BW, 3,3 g/mL extract/kg BW, and 5,5 g/mL extract/kg BW can lower the ALT activity on 35th day for 61,90%, 62,52%, and 63,27% and AST activity on 35th day for 61,90%, 62,52%, and 63,27% respectively. Observation on histopatology showed that treatment with 1,1 g/mL extract/kg BW had better ability to regenerate hepatocyte compared with both 3,3 g/mL extract/kg BW and 5,5 g/mL extract/kg BW.id
