      Abstract

Floods are the most common natural disasters in Indonesia, with 1,794 incidents out of 5,402 disasters in 2021. Banten Province, especially Tangerang City, has a high flood risk due to rainfall and land use. This study analyzes floods using climate, topography, and geographic information system (GIS) data, with the Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method to estimate surface runoff based on rainfall, utilizing land cover data from the Sentinel-2 satellite (2017-2021). Results show significant changes in the Cibanten Watershed, including a reduction of 5,3 ha in water bodies and decreases of 1,012.3 ha in cultivated land and 8 ha in vacant land, while built-up areas increased by 1,259 ha. Grasslands and forests decreased by 5.3 ha and 250,9 ha, respectively, while wetland vegetation increased by 22.8 ha. Annual rainfall (2010-2022) ranged from 1509.2 to 2625.2 mm, averaging 1961.1 mm. Extreme rainfall of 180.4 mm/day on March 1, 2022, caused severe flooding. Land use changes and extreme rainfall are the main causes of flooding.
