      Abstract

Rice is a strategic food crop commodity that is vulnerable to changes in rainfall patterns due to climate change. The active role of the community of paddy rice farmers through collective action can be a reflection of the community's adaptation strategy to climate change. The objectives of the research were to identify the characteristics of the community of paddy rice farmers and to describe efforts to encourage community collective action through communication networks formed between members and outside community members. The research was conducted using a qualitative method approach supported by quantitative data in Pangelak Village, South Kalimantan. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively and descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed that the mentoring and transfer of paddy rice technology in Pangelak Village, which was facilitated by the mentoring team as a catalyst to arouse the skills and knowledge of the community in creating adaptation strategies, had not yet achieved collective action. Community members only participate in the form of contributing labor resources, material goods, and information related to the implementation of mentoring and technology transfer activities.
