| dc.description.abstract | Quail excreta is a waste product that can be used as a growing medium for BSF maggots. The aim of this research was to analyze the saturated and unsaturated fatty acid profiles of fresh BSF maggots and flour as well as the ratio of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in BSF maggot flour produced from quail excreta growing media. This research was carried out at the IPB Vocational School Animal Laboratory, from July to October 2023. Fatty acid profile analysis was carried out at the Integrated Laboratory of the Bogor Agricultural Institute and analyzed using Gas Chromatography (GC) refers to the AOAC method (2012). The fatty acid profile of fresh BSF maggots in treatment P0 was higher than in treatment P1, this was due to the presence of fat consumed by fermentation microbes for their growth. The highest saturated fatty acid content in BSF maggot flour is lauric acid 17.68% (P0), palmitic acid 15.86% (P1), and unsaturated fatty acids namely oleic acid 12.32% (P1). The best ratio was found in the P1 excreta treatment with fermentation. Quail excreta which is waste, has the potential to be a medium for growing BSF maggots and the resulting BSF maggots are rich in nutrients. | |
