The right mobile phase selection is one of methods to obtain a good component separation. This is the one of method to support fingerprint analysis that will be used as a quality control tool of herbal me dicines. Meniran is one of herbal medicines that used as a sample in this study. Mobile phase optimization was started with elution by using 13 single solvents with 4 kind of detections, namely ultraviolet (UV) 254 nm, UV 366 nm, vanillin-sulfuric acid, and anisaldehyde. Mixture design with simplex centroid scheme is selected to give some combinations from 3 selected solvents , they are acetone, dichloromethane, and chloroform. According to Minitab 14 software, optimum point when using UV 366 nm detection was obtained using chloroform and dichloromethane ratio of 0.6553:0.3447, whereas the optimum point was obtained of using vanillinsulfuric acid detection with chloroform and dichloromethane ratio of 0.0741:0.9259. Both detections results are considered good in terms of high R2 value , with 91.56% for UV 366 nm detection and 95. 16% for vanillin-sulfuric acid detection.id
