Marigold plants or Tagetes sp. is generally used as an ornamental plant in various countries in the world. Propagation of marigold plants in short period of time with identical properties to the parent plan can be done by using vegetative propagation. Propagation by cuttings has some advantages that can be done without special skills. The aim of this study is to detemine the rooting and growth response of several genotypes marigold T. erecta and T. patula on several types of growing media . The research was conducted at the experimental field located in Alam Sinar Sari, Dramaga, Bogor regency West Java. Treatment and observation of marigold root initiation in planting media was carried out in November2022 - December 2022, while observation of vegetative growth after transplanting was carried out in January 2023 - February 2023. Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors was applied. The first experiment was six marigold genotypes namely Sudamala Emas 1, Sudamala Emas 2, Maharani, Tk 1, Tk 2, and Takengon. The second experiment was the four growing media namely Water, Cocopeat, Sand, and Rockwoll. The result were obtained that the best propagation medium for root initiation and transplanting was rockwoll and water media.id
