      Abstract
      Melati Grand Duke of Tuscany (Jasminum sambac L.) merupakan salah satu spesies melati yang berkembang di Indonesia yang banyak digunakan sebagai tanaman hias dalam pot dan tanaman lansekap. Produksi tanaman melati dalam pot yang baik perlu didukung adanya penggunaan media yang ringan dan upaya peningkatan percabangan dan pembungaannya, karena cabang tanaman melati cenderung tumbuh memanjang. Benzil amino purin (BAP) merupakan salah satu zat pengatur tumbuh yang dapat menginduksi percabangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari respon tanaman melati terhadap berbagai konsentrasi BAP (50, 100, dan 200 ppm) pada dua jenis yaitu media, yaitu tanah+kompos+pupuk kandang sapi (1:1:1, v/v) dan media 60% kompos bambu kasar: 30% cocopeat : 10% arang sekam (v/v). Penelitian dilakukan di kebun percobaan Cikabayan, Dramaga, Kampus IPB Bogor, dengan periode penelitian Februari-Agustus 2022. BAP nyata meningkatkan cabang primer melati empat minggu pertama setelah perlakuan , namun setelah 4 minggu tidak ada perbedaan jumlah cabang antar perlakuan mau pun dengan kontrol. Respon tanaman melati pada perlakuan media terlihat mulai 8 minggu setelah perlakuan. Pertumbuhan melati pada media kompos bambu lebih baik dibandingkan dengan media tanah, ditunjukkan oleh pertambahan daun yang lebih tinggi dan persen tanaman berbunga yang lebih tinggi. Perlakuan yang paling baik ditunjukkan dengan penggunaan media kompos bambu dan perlakuan BAP 50 ppm.
       
      The Jasmine Grand Duke of Tuscany (Jasmine sambac L.) is a species of jasmine that is widely used as an ornamental plant as potted or landscape plants. For potted flower production, it is important to use light weight media. Jasmines have a strong apical dominance trait and tend to elongate rather than produce branches. Benzyl amino purine (BAP) is one of the plant regulators that can induce branching, and has been widely used to induce shoot multiplication in tissue culture. This study aims to determine if jasmine responds to the application of BAP (50, 100, or 200 ppm). Two types of media were tested: the standard media used by growers that consists of soil+compost + manures (1:1:1 by volume), and a media mixture consist of 60% coarse bamboo compost: 30% cocopeat: 10% burnt rice hulls. The research was conducted in the Cikabayan experimental farm, Dramaga, Bogor IPB Campus, from February–August 2022. BAP treatment increased the number of primary branches in the first four weeks compared to without BAP. Jasmine grew better in media containing bamboo compost compared to soil media, indicate by higher leaf growth and higher prencentage of flowering plants The best treatment was shown by using bamboo compost media and BAP 50 ppm treatment.
