Rancang Bangun Sistem Transmitter dan Receiver Sonar Aktif Untuk Deteksi dan Kuantifikasi Objek Melayang Argo Float Pada Kolom Air
Abstract
Remote sensing using acoustic principles is one of the key factors for the success of underwater missions. This is because acoustic signals are able to propagate in water at a considerable distance when compared to electromagnetic waves. Acoustic energy can be applied to measure distances, identify seafloor sediment types, determine the volume of a collection of organisms, measure sediment movement, oil and gas detection, underwater communications and some recent applications such as intelligent biomass in columns. To be able to detect the presence of an underwater object such as a drone or AUV or other floating object in the water column using acoustic technology, it is necessary to pay attention to sonar equations.
One of the important factors in underwater identification is Target Srength (TS), which is the target's ability to return an acoustic signal that hits the target to the receiving sensor. The TS value of an object has characteristics that are different from one another, so that it can enable identification between one target and another. In this study, the underwater object to be detected as a target is an argo float.
The design of active sonar transmitter and receiver instruments is carried out to create a target detection system with acoustic principles. The TX transducer design uses a series of ring model piezoelectric elements (PZT) arranged in arrays and multi layers. This aims to increase the acoustic or mainlobe energy generated when detecting targets.
The final result of the active sonar prototype is capable of producing beamforming with a wide beam angle of 23° at a frequency of 58.5 kHz of 158 dB and has succeeded in detecting argo float targets in the fresh water column at various different angles. The maximum detection value of the Target Strength meter float is –7.03 dB when the target is at a perpendicular angle from the transducer and the minimum value is –25.21 dB when the angle is parallel to the target, while the maximum detection range is an iron pipe target with a length of 200 cm and a diameter of 5 cm in sea water as far as 67 m.
