      Abstract

Forest and land fires often occur in Indonesia from 2015 to 2021. During forest and land fires, surface and air temperatures will increase, affecting the characteristics of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) or with other name of Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL). Study aims to analyze and compare the characteristics of ABL during forest fires in September 2015, 2016, and 2019. This study uses Minangkabau International Airport Radiosonde data sourced from NOAA data. All radiosonde data is processed into a vertical profile of virtual potential temperature, specific humidity, wind speed, and Bulk-Richardson number. The determination of the height of the Mixed Layer is when the virtual potential temperature value has a sharp increase and the estimation of the Turbulent Flow Thickness value by looking at the resulting RiB value is less than the Critical Richardson Number (Ric) value. The highest mixed layer height was in 2015 which reached a height of 3.779 m with a difference of 2.206 m from the mixed layer height under normal conditions. So, forest and land fires affected Atmospheric Boundary Layer’s Thickness
