dc.description.abstractHotong (Setaria italica L. Beauv) adalah komoditas serealia minor yang potensial dikembangkan sebagai pangan fungsional alternatif. Rendahnya mutu benih hotong salah satunya karena faktor penyimpanan benih. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui respon benih genotipe hotong terhadap pengusangan cepat fisik untuk pendugaan vigor daya simpan (VDS). Penelitian terdiri atas dua percobaan. Percobaan pertama disusun dalam rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) satu faktor yaitu waktu pengusangan dengan empat ulangan. Percobaan kedua disusun dalam rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak (RKLT) petak terbagi, dengan waktu pengusangan sebagai petak utama dan genotipe sebagai anak petak dengan empat ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengusangan cepat fisik berpengaruh pada penurunan vigor dan viabilitas benih hotong. Waktu pengusangan cepat fisik selama 4 hari menunjukkan penurunan vigor dan viabilitas benih hotong secara gradual. Genotipe benih hotong menunjukkan vigor dan viabilitas benih yang berbeda. Genotipe Toraja memiliki nilai vigor daya simpan yang lebih rendah dari genotipe ICERI-5 dan ICERI-6.id
dc.description.abstractFoxtail millet (Setaria italica L. Beauv) is a potential minor cereal commodity to be developed as alternative functional food. Improper seed storage may lead to the low quality of foxtail millet seeds. The objective of this study was to determine the response genotypes of foxtail millet seed to physical accelerated aging to estimate vigor storability (VDS). This study consisted of two experiments. The first experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, namely the aging period with four replications. The second experiment was arranged in a complete randomized block design (CRDB) split plot, with aging period as the main plot and foxtail millet genotype as the subplot with four replications. The results showed that physical accelerated aging decreased vigor and viability of foxtail millet seeds. Physical accelerated aging period for 4 days was able to show a gradual decrease in vigor and viability of foxtail millet seeds. Genotype of foxtail millet showed different seed vigor and viability. The Toraja genotype had a significantly lower vigor storability value than ICERI-5 and ICERI 6.id
