| dc.description.abstract | The ecosystem of mangrove forest at the coastal area of Tongke-Tongke, Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi Provence, which is the result of the community’s self effort, is feared to face degradation as a result of the demand of local community for livehold, there for this research was intended to a) determine the economic value of the mangrove ecosystem at Tongke-tongke, b) analyze the suitability of the mangrove area particularly for fish pond, and c) determine the socio-economic condition of the local community. Te area suitability for fish pond was determined on the basis of the water quality, soil quality and areasupporting resources by analysis of Geografic Information System (GIS) and factorial discriminant analysis. The data of socio-economy was obtained by interviews of quistionnaires with 84 respondents. To examine the effect of socioeconomic factors, a multivariate analysis of the principal component (PCA) and linear multiple regression analysis were employed. The result of the research showed that the area was highly suitable for fish and shrimp ponds, and scenario 1 (natural condition of mangrove) was the most profitable alternative management. Result of economic benefit analysis on mangrove determine that the highest proportion for total economic value of mangrove ecosystem was indirect benefit with value Rp. 4.434.816.711,00/year or 96,67 %, furthermore the existence benefit was Rp.101.478.371,00/year or 2,21 % and the indirect benefit was Rp.46.643.904,00/year or 1,02 %, while choice benefit value was Rp.4.434.450,00 /year or only 0,10 % from total benefit value. Individuals with a big number of family numbers tended to have a big number of workers, high income and expenses, too. The family income is affected by the number of family number, independent ratio, and type of jobs; where expense is influenced by the umber of family member and independent ratio. | id |
