Soybean rust, caused by P. pachyrhilzl, is one of the most seriuos legume diseases in Indonesia. Monthly observations of the diases symptoms were made at Pacet experiment farm (1100 m) in West Java. The rust Lessions were light to dark brown or blackish and were manly on the underside of the leaves. In Earlier leaf tages, two types of diases symptoms were found: lesions with brown halo zonesand lesion without haloes. It was presumed that this might indicate the presence of at least two rases of the patogen. The first type appeared to be more virulent than the record.
