dc.description.abstractWatershed (DAS) Batanghari is a water catchment area which plays an important role in maintaining of ecosystem. Keputusan Kementerian Pekerjaan Umum (2012) states that forest degradation that occurs in the upstream Sub DAS. Prediction of erosion hazard was assessed using USLE with GIS software (ArcGIS 9.3 and ERDAS Imagine 9.1). The rate of erosion in the Sub DAS Batanghari Hulu calculated based on factors USLE erosion, i.e rain erosivity, soil erodibility, length and slope, land use and conservation actions. GIS analysis results showed that the rate of erosion in Sub DAS Batanghari Hulu is divided into five classes, i.e very light, mild, moderate, severe and very severeclass erosion. The Sub DAS Batanghari Hulu dominated by very mild class erosion, reaches 434 584.62 ha with a percentage of 34.80% of the total area. The Sub DAS Batanghari Hulu with very severe erosion hazard level has the smallest area, 64 430.04 ha, shows that most of the watershed area has a tolerable erosion value.id
