dc.description.abstractDogs is the most desirable pets than cats, dogs also companions and playmates, other than that utilized for hunting and a reliable house keeper. Ectoparasite infestations in dogs can damage the health of the dog and its owner. The study aims to learn distribution of ectoparasite infestations in dogs in Bandung. Observations were made based on the medical records from 2008 to 2014, from 7 veterinary clinic located in the city of Bandung. The result showed that prevalence of ectoparasites infestations ( 0.91%) of 70800 dogs come to clinic. Diverse types of ectoparasites commonly attack dogs i.e. tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus (19.9); lice, Trichodectes canis (74.6%); and flea, Ctenocephalides felis (5.5%). Ectoparasites infestation found more on male dogs (60.24%) than female dogs (39.4%). The pure breed dog had the highest distribution (65.46%), followed by the mixed dog (23.09%), and the local dog (11.45%). However, based on age, the dogs over the age of 1 year less infested (20.48%) than the dogs under 1 year old (41.6%), and the rest of (39.7%) was unidentified. The result of Chi-square test (p>0.01) showed no significant different between sex, breed, and age with the ectoparasites infestations in dogs in Bandung with P-value male 0.319 and female 0.982.id
