dc.description.abstractThe aim of the research was to study the welfare of spotted deer (Axis axis) at Kampung Batu Malakasari natural touris park Baleendah Bandung. The data taken by observe the condition of the area, deer cage, deer population and their feeding program. Assessment of deer welfare was carried out with using a checklist developed by NAWAC (2007). Faecal examination were done to observe the health condition related to welfare. The observation showed that the natural touris park width is 5.5 Ha and area is 1827 m² the deer cage. The cage is facilitated with shelter, feeding and drinking place. The population in dry season is 19 deers and 20 deers in wet season. The feed composition for deers are sweet potato, waste product of tofu and grass. The average of feed are 50 kg sweet potato per day, 20 kg waste product of tofu and 50 kg of grass. Based on animal welfare assessment, deer in Kampung Batu Malakasari were in poor condition. Based on faecal examination during the dry season showed that 2 deers are infected with Nematodes and 10 deers infected with Trematodes. In wet season 5 deers infected with Trematodes. In conclusion, the deer still need medical attention to prevent of infection from pathogen such as parasites.id
