Gembira Loka Zoo as they running their activity as a conservation institution needs to watch the animal welfare management, and also visitor perception and preference so the function of parrot (bird with curved bill) as tourism destination can be done optimally. Data collected on August 2014 in Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta. The research showed that the achievement of parrot welfare in KBGL categorized as medium. There were 7 cage blocks in parrot welfare scoring. Lory cage has the highest score as big as 87 which categorized as good. Welfare component which need more attention is the one with low score which is the aspect of behaving naturally that affected by cage management andthe functions of cage. Visitor perception towards the welfare management condition was mostly good. Based on visitor preferences, the development of media interpretation needs to be made for parrot. The development that canbe madesuch as interpretation board reparation, coaching and training of Interpreter, and procurement of interpretation video.
