Land use changes without considering land suitability to decrease groundwater recharge and cause increasing surface runoff. The purposes of this study are to analyze land use changes and their impact on direct discharge in Cidanau watershed, Banten, and to determine the optimal land use. Impact of land use changes on water discharge was analized by using the Soil Conservation Service-Curve Number (SCS-CN) method. Optimum land use was determined to reduce surface runoff with constrain factor of land suitability. The result of study showed that the land use of Cidanau watershed in the period 1998-2013 was changes, but they changes did not significantly effect the increasing of surface runoff. During this period, the developed land increase more than 100% from 600 ha (1998) to 1301 ha (2013) and caused the increasing of surface runoff about 1.96% from 1922.70 mm (1998) to 1959.46 mm (2013). The optimal land use in Cidanau watershed was forest (8.21%), forest plantation (14.54%), developed land (5.81%), plantation (5.46%), dry land farming (9.34%), dry land farming mixed (39.22%), paddy (17.27%), and water bodies (0.14%). The optimal land use decreased surface runoff about 1.71% of 2013 surface runoff .en
