dc.description.abstract | The availability of agricultural land in Tarogong Kidul District is threatened because Tarogong Kidul belongs to urban area of Garut. The purposes of this research are to determine, (a) the spatial distribution of land use and paddy fields, (b) the influence of agricultural infrastructure on the agricultural land development, and (c) the level of food security and status in Tarogong Kidul. The techniques to determine spatial distribution of land use in 2007 and 2014 are by digitizing process and interpretation based on IKONOS imagery in 2007 and 2012. The influence of agricultural infrastructure were measured by paddy fields area in 2007 and 2014 based on road border 50 – 800 metres, identification of irrigation network and its effect on the productivity. Hierarchy analysis process and overlay results from the previous maps were used to determine rice fields which are vulnerable to conversion and the level of local food security. Land use of Tarogong Kidul is dominated by paddy fields and settlements. Paddy fields spread out at the south and west while settlements spread out at north and east that is adjacent with urban of Garut. The results showed that road border, road status, irrigation and productivity has consecutive weights of 0.48, 0.47, 0.04, and 0.01. Based on the map, the highly vulnerable status of conversions are located near urban Garut and spread out through out the district. Based on food balance sheets, there are six villages deficit status and 6 villages surplus status. Theory this analysis of the food security status of South Tarogong will be surplus until 2016. | en |
