dc.description.abstractAlong with the very development of digital image processing technologies makes identification of motor vehicle plate image into one of the computer techniques which is often developed. Referring to the previous research done by Lesmana (2012), the research used the image centroid and zone (ICZ) to recognize vehicle plates that canreduce plates into the average with 82.50%. Data plate which is used in this research is plates on motor vehicles in Baranangsiang IPB taken by amobile phone camera with a resolution 5 megapixel (MP). In this research, the best accuracy is 40.99% smaller than the previous research. It can be concluded that the reduction by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is not very good for image processing on vehicle number plates.en
