dc.description.abstractCommercial synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs have dangerous side effects if used continuously so that alternatives herbal can replace the use of that drugs. Combination lotion of nanoparticles Peperomia pellucida and Zingiber officinale extract is an alternative herbal treatment for pain and swelling due to inflammation using nanoparticle technology. This study was performed in vitro by measuring the inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 and in vivo by measuring the inhibition of rat foot oedem. in vivo anti-inflammatory test using Sprague-Dawley rats with 6 groups (n = 5), which is normal, the positive control, nanolotion 10%, nanolotion17.5%, nanolotion 35%, and lotion35%. Nanoparticles produced from suruhan and red ginger extract, respectively for 90.64 nm and 137.42 nm. The best cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) Inhibition of owned by a combination of nanoparticles suruhan and red ginger ratio of 1: 2 with a concentration of 175 ppm, that is equal to 22.99%. Statistical test results showed that the α 0.05 diclofenac Na group, nanolotion 17.5% and lotions extract 35%, significantly different from the nanolotion 10% and nanolotion 35%. While the nanolotion 10% and 35% is not significantly different from the group nanolotion 17.5% and 35% extract. These results indicate that nanolotion 17.5% and lotion extract 35% have anti-inflammatory efficacy similar to those sodium diclofenac. Meanwhile nanolotion 10% and 35% have anti-inflammatory efficacy similar to nanolotion 17.5% and 35% extract lotion but do not have the same efficacy with sodium diclofenac.en
