dc.description.abstractEssential oils, an industrial and trading commodities in the international market, plays an important role, especially as industrial raw material that could reach billions of dollars. One way to develop the essential oils of vetiver (Vetivera zizanoides) mainly from Garut make efforts to build centers of production of vetiver oil refining. On the other hand, the distillation process produces waste charred vetiver causing air pollution, as well as water and soil solution. Therefore, we conducted a study utilizing vetiver in the amount of waste burned as much as possible by making it as an ingredient in the manufacture of boards. Based on test results obtained board density ranged from 1.09 to 1.18 g / cm 3, the water content ranges from 6.40% - 7.81%, the development of linear ranges from 1.05 to 2.43%, the development of thick range 0.23 - 2.26%, and the water absorption ranges from 25.96% - 38.95%. Of testing the mechanical properties, the value of the bond (IB) ranged from 0.68 to 1.43 kg / cm 2, determination of bending (MOE) ranged 5546,69- 9724.39 kg / cm 2, firmness fracture ranged from 50.67 to 68, 41 kg / cm 2 and a strong grasp of the screw ranged from 10.19 to 11.89 kg. Nature - the nature of the resulting boards are generally better than boards produced at the research Masri (1998), and has met the standard of JIS A 5417-1992, except for the determination of bending. This means that panels of this research can be applied to various purposes, for not receiving a bending load.en
