Private forest has economical and ecological functions. The economical function of private forest, such as timber and firewood producers, can be called as tangible values. The ecological functions of private forest which are called intangible values are absorbing carbons and retaining waters. Forest functions can work well if humans can keep its sustainability and use it wisely. In fact, many forests in Indonesia has been depleted due to illegal logging. The objectives of this research are to identify the actual condition of Giriwoyo private forest, to estimate its total economic value, and to analyze its institutional management. The method used to identify the actual condition of Giriwoyo private forest is descriptive analysis. The benefits of Giriwoyo private forest are calculated using Total Economic Value (TEV) approach and valuation techniques. The direct and indirect use values are obtained using Productivity Method Approach. The option value is obtained through the benefit transfer method and the bequest value is calculated based on people’s WTP. The species of the tree planted in this land are teak, mahogany, acacia, and tamarind. Total economic value of Giriwoyo private forest is about Rp.138.156.607.860 per annum, which comes from the use value for about Rp 17.584.003.260, the option use value for about Rp 2.192.463.840, and bequest value for about Rp 116.146.611.000.
