Keawetan Alami Kayu Tumih (Combretocarpus rotundatus Miq Danser) dari Serangan Rayap Kayu Kering, Rayap Tanah dan Jamur Pelapuk Kayu
Abstract
Combretocarpus rotundatus Miq Danser or tumih is known as one of the fast growing species in the peat forests. Tumih wood has a straight trunk that could potentially be a good wood working materials, but there are no studies that describe the natural durability of wood tumih. The objective of this study was to test the natural durability of wood tumih from dry wood termites Cryptotermes cynocephalus Light, subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren, decay fungus Schizophyllum commune, as well as its field natural durability in the grave yard test. Observed variables in this study were the percentage of termite mortality and weight loss of samples due to termites and fungal attacks. The result showed that the durability of tumih wood was not the same for all wood destroying factors. The natural durability of tumih wood belong to class III of C. cynocephalus, class II of C. curvignathus and class IV of decay fungus S. commune.
