dc.description.abstract | Logging and skidding have potention to create an open area. Open area can cause negative impactssuch as land quality degradation, shoot hamper and harried forest health. The objective of this research is to calculate the extent of open area caused by low intensity logging. The plot type that used iscircular plot withnon permanent extend. Total plot that used was 15. The extent of open area was calculated by measuring the open area in a range of 1 meter from the felled tree stump to the outermost areaaffected, meanwhile the measurement of open crown was done on two measuring points, namely on the half of the branch height and on the half of the crown weight before and after the logging. The rate of open area caused by logging with low intensity logging (0.38 trees/ha) is 0.03 ha whereas the rate of open crown before logging is 0.06 m2 and the rate of open crown after logging is 0.64 m2 . | en |
