      Abstract
      Manufacturing of interior particle boards commonly use urea formaldehyde (UF). The adhesion process of UF is optimum in acidic pH condition. Acetic acid immersion aims to raise the level of acidity of ampel bamboo particles to accelerate the adhesion level of the UF adhesive and to increase physical and mechanical properties of board. Method that used in this research was carried out dipping of ampel particle in 1 and 3% acetid acid and hardener with adhesive treatment. The results of this research will be compared to control. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical and mechanical properties of particle boards made from Ampel bamboo after acetic acid pretreatment, and it compares to particle board with hardener and control. The results showed that the Density, Moisture Content (MC), Modulus of Rupture (MOR), Internal Bond (IB), Strong Hold Screws (SHS) in the particle board acetic acid soaking treatment and mixing hardener has met to JIS A 5908: 2003 standard with a density value more than 0.4 g cm-3, MC below 13%, MOR more than 8.36 N mm-2, IB more than 0.15 N mm-2, and the SHS more than 304 N.
