The objective of this experiment was to study the concentration of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine of Friesian Holstein (FH) calves, received feed supplemented by Zn. Nine healthy Holstein calves, 6-10 months old were used in this experiment . The calves were devided into three groups, consisted of three calves, i.e. with zero ppm (control), 60 ppm and 120 ppm of Zn supplementation, respectively. Blood samples were collected from jugular vein for blood urea nitrogen and creatinine analysis, prior to and every month following treatment for three months. Blood urea nitrogen and creatinine concentrations were analysed using spectrophotometer. Results of the experiment indicated that the BUN and creatinine concentration ranging between 8.15 - 18.50 mg/dL and 0,64 - 0,77 mg/dL, respectively. The highest concentration of BUN and creatinine were on the calves supplemented by 60 ppm of Zn. In conclusion, the concentration of BUN and creatinine on calves supplemented by Zn were in a normal range. The supplementation of 60 and 120 ppm Zn given for 3 months were safe for Holstein calves.
