Spirulina sp. is one of microalgae are mostly used as industrial raw material because it contains high nutrients. Spirulina sp. perform photosynthesis to acquire various compounds that needed in metabolism. Photosynthesis is affected by light exposure time (photoperiod) that correlated with light-dependent reactions and light-independent reactions (Calvin cycle). This study was purposed to compare the effectiveness used red monochromatic light as source spectrum for photosynthetic with different light exposure (photoperiod) to increase biomass production of Spirulina sp. The results showed that Spirulina sp. was cultured on all treatments were not significantly different (P> 0.05) on daily density and specific growth rate traits. However, the highest biomass was shown on C treatment (12 hours light, 12 hours dark) is 4.27 mg dry weight/ml.en
