dc.description.abstractMusca domestica is usually the most abundant fly spesies in caged-layer poultry farm. The presence of M. domestica in poultry may cause interference to workers, reduction of egg quality, and may become a mechanical vector insect of several diseases. Nowadays, vector control in public health and farm still by using insecticide. One of the insecticide used in caged-layer poultry house is thiamethoxam. Thiamethoxam is a new neonicotionid insecticides which has not been widely used in Indonesia. This insecticide has a residual effect. This research was intended to study the effectiveness of thiamethoxam as a residual insecticides against M. domestica using the paint on method in caged-layer poultry house. Thiamethoxam painted on polywood board and suspended on the base of caged. The effect of thiamethoxam measured by the flies caught on sticky fly paper to both control and treatment. There was no difference between fly population on control and paint on treatment. The residual effect to M. domestica occurred until 8 weeks after application.en
