Domestic chickens has high economic value because it can be used as a chicken layer and broiler. Lice was one of the ectoparasites that can attack domestic chickens. This study was conducted to determine the diversity and distribution of lice on domestic chickens so that it can be controlled properly. Lices were obtained from 42 domestic chickens at several markets in the area of Bogor, such as Gunung Batu market, Anyar market, Bogor market and Warung Jambu market. Lices were collected from several regions of chicken’s body, such as head to neck, back, breast to feet, wings, and tail. Lice samples were put into the container which has already contained 70% alcohol and identified. The results showed that the prevalence of lice infestation at traditional market was 50%. Lice species discovered were Menopon gallinae (77.14%), Lipeurus caponis (20.57%), and Goniodes dissimilis (2.29%). This study was dominated by Menopon gallinae with the largest distribution in the breast to feet region (97.39%).
