      Abstract
      Zincatau Zn merupakan mineral mikro yang berperan penting dalam sistem kekebalan tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari pengaruh suplementasi Zn dalam pakan terhadap profil leukosit pada anak sapi Friesian Holstein (FH). Penelitian ini menggunakan 9 ekor anak sapi FH yang sehat secara klinis, berumur antara 6-10 bulan. Anak sapi dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok perlakuan, masingmasing terdiri atas 3 ekor. Pengelompokan dilakukan berdasarkan perbedaan kandungan mineral Zn yang ditambahkan ke dalam konsentrat, yaitu kelompok yang diberi pakan tanpa suplementasi Zn (kontrol), kelompok yang diberi pakan dengan suplementasi Zn sebesar 60 ppm, dan kelompok yang diberi pakan dengan suplementasi Zn sebesar 120 ppm. Sampel darah diambil dari vena jugularis sebelum dan setelah suplementasi Zn, setiap bulan selama tiga bulan, untuk dianalisis terhadap jumlah total dan diferensial leukosit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi Zn sebesar 60 dan 120 ppm tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata pada jumlah leukosit total, neutrofil, monosit, dan eosinofil (P>0.05). Jumlah limfosit meningkat secara nyata setelah dua bulan suplementasi Zn sebesar 60 ppm (P<0.05). Kesimpulan, suplementasi Zn tidak berpengaruh pada jumlah leukosit total, neutrofil, monosit, dan eosinofil. Namun demikian, suplementasi Zn sebesar 60 ppm mampu meningkatkan jumlah limfosit anak sapi FH pada 2 bulan setelah suplementasi.
       
      Zinc or Zn is a micro mineral which plays an important role in the immune system. The objective of this experiment was to study the effect of zinc supplementation in Friesian Holstein (FH) calves on the number of total and differential leukocytes. Nine healthy Holstein calves, 6-10 months old, were used in this experiment. The calves were devided into three groups, consisted of three calves, i.e. with zero ppm (control), 60 ppm and 120 ppm of Zn supplementation, respectively. Blood samples were collected from jugular vein for total leukocyte count and differential leukocyte (neutrophyl, lymphocyte, monocyte, and eosinophyl counts) analysis, prior to and every month following treatment for three months. Results of this experiment showed that there were no significant difference on total leukocyte, neutrophyl, monocyte, and eosinophyl counts (P>0.05) following 60 and 120 ppm of Zn supplementation. Lymphocyte counts increased significantly two months following 60 ppm of Zn supplementation (P<0.05). In conclusion, Zn supplementation had no effect on total leukocyte, neutrophyl, monocyte, and eosinophyl counts. However, the supplementation 60 ppm of Zn may increase the lymphocyte count in calves two months after supplementation.
