Dimensi dan Sistem Perakaran Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen) di Desa Cikarawang, Kecamatan Dramaga, Kabupaten Bogor
Abstract
Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria (L) Nielsen) is one of tree species which is currently developed on a wide scale in community forests and highly demanded as raw industrial material. However, most of sengon plantation has not been followed by agroforestry system land use, so that the land becomes less productive. This study aims to identify the dimensions of sengon plants, percent canopy closure, and the root system at different spacing. Spacing used in this study are 2 x 2 m, 3 x 3 m, and 3 x 4 m. The results showed that the plant parameters; diameter at breast height, total height, crown length and crown width best found at 3 x 3 m spacing. However, the largest percentage of canopy closure was found at a spacing of 2 x 2 m. Variable of horizontal root length have different results with other root system variables. The length of the longest horizontal roots were found at a spacing of 3 x 4 m, whereas for horizontal root depth, horizontal root fraction, and shoot-root ratio were found at greatest spacing of 3 x 3 m.
