Modelling Fundamental Concept of Institutional Repository in the University Library of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa using the Zachman Framework.

Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University ( Untirta ) library as a university library has been collecting local content, scientific work from academic community. Now, Untirta has 7,393 copies collection in hardcopy and softcopy formats . Starting 2009 the softcopy format on compact disk ( CD ) file was being gathered. In 2011 began to be converted to PDF format, but has not being integrated in the library information system. In the future the collections will be growing so need more space to keep the collection safely and compatible with the development of technology. At present, various library university began to implement online access to improve the library service and quality of research. Due to the advancement of information technology, Untirta Library services should be adjusted with the needs of library users. The purpose of this study was to create a institutional repositories modeling fundamental concepts using the Zachman framework approach and the system utilizes the existing infrastructure in Untirta . The research method was descriptive analysis with Zachman framework tool and rules of the fulfilling from Pereira and Sousa. The result showed a modeling fundamental concepts in the library Untirta institutional repository based on the Zachman Framework to be applied by utilizing existing infrastructure. This study has provided a detailed mapping of the first three layers Zachman and concepts used in formulating the design of institutional repositories. This layer includes three perspectives planner, owner, and architect view, which intersects with what artifacts (inventory), how (process), where (distribution), who (responsibility), when (timing), why (motivation). The representative of planner perspective descriptive reflected the characteristics of the institutional repositories usage; the representative of owner perspective described what it will do with the institutional repository and how to use them; the last the representation of architect perspective descriptive built the foundation system design and features in the institutional repository.
