dc.description.abstractThe abundant availability of bamboos in Indonesia has prompted their possible uses as substitute for conventional raw materials (i.e. woods) which nowadays tend to be dwindling. Nowadays a variety of benefits generated bamboo is still considered low than necessary, causing the uncontrolled exploitation of bamboo are being offset by cultivation measures. Bamboo preservation efforts have not been entrenched so that the plant is still regarded as less useful. In addition, research and cultivation technology development trial, harvesting, preservation, and marketing of bamboo is rarely become another problem in the utilization of bamboo. Information about the species, benefits, and processing technology of bamboo is limited. In addition, many people who do not know the concept of value of bamboo in a comprehensive range of benefits, particularly intangible benefits that do not have a market price that needs to be assessed against all the resulting benefits of bamboo resources. Benefits of bamboo resources themselves do not all have the market price, so it is necessary to use these approaches to quantify the economic value of bamboo resources in monetary terms. As an example of the benefits of bamboo in absorbing carbon and other environmental and ecological benefits. Because of its non-market causes many benefits of bamboo resources have not been satisfactorily assessed in economic calculations. This research aims of this study was to calculate the total economic value of bamboo resources in Sajira subregency as one of the main centers of bamboo in Lebak regency. The values of bamboo resources is estimated direct use value (stumpage of value), indirect use value in the form of carbon stock value and erosion prevention value, and the option value of surat (Gigantochloa pseudoarundinacae This research was conducted in Sajira subregency, Lebak regency, Banten. The study starts from January to August 2013. Research conducted on farmers and communities that have a garden of bamboo or bamboo producing as respondents. Research methods used include the derivative residual value approach (stumpage of value), market price (carbon stock value), replacement cost approach (erosion prevention value), and Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) and Tobit Regression (option value). The process of data collection is done through the study of literature, observation, interviews and discussions, and soil sampling on each type of land cover. Data processing and analysis using Excel and SAS software programs. ). Results from this study showed that direct use values (stumpage value of bamboo) is IDR 39 602 675 700. This value is derived from the sum of stock value of spindles bamboo (non-processed bamboo) and stock value of plaited bamboo (bamboo processed) each with a value of US$ 31 972 145/ha and US$ 250 904 110/ha. Indirect use value of bamboo resources in this study is the ecological value of bamboo as carbon stocks and as erosion prevention. Carbon stock value (CSV) is the amount of bamboo carbon stocks stored in bamboo resources. CSV is obtained from the multiplication of bamboo carbon stock at a price of carbon (US$/t C) is assumed when the study was 9.12/t C, equivalent to IDR 100 320/ton. CSV bamboo resources in Sajira subregency is IDR 224 840 000. When converted to acres the CSV generated hectare of IDR 1 605 190/ha. This value is lower than the research conducted by Pande et al. (2012), which was IDR 5 804 500-9 120 000/ha. Erosion prevention value (EPV) is influenced by the rate of soil erosion by bamboo land as a substitute for fields and shrubs. The calculations show that the EPV of bamboo land as a field of IDR 4 966 728/ha, while the EPV of bamboo land as shrubs of IDR 996 129/ha. Conversion of bamboo land into fields may be done but the conversion into shrub is very unlikely, so the EPV of bamboo resources in the Sajira subregency approached with EPV of bamboo land as fields. If the areal extent of bamboo stands in Sajira subregency of 140 ha, the EPV of bamboo land is IDR 695 341 881. The value of people's willingness to pay (WTP) for preservation of species of surat (G. pseudoarundinacae Total economic value (TEV) of bamboo resources in the Sajira subregency, Lebak regency is IDR 40 604 871 840. This indicates that the bamboo resources have an important role for the life of the surrounding community. TEV is an approach to determine the potential of bamboo resources in Sajira subregency. TEV is value that is obtained a current value of research conducted. This value does not include the exist value of bamboo resources in Sajira subregency, Lebak regency, Banten. ) is IDR 82 014 259. Variations of option WTP values are influenced by the place of origin, occupation as entrepreneur, farmer, civil servant, income, and knowledge of the benefits bamboo resources.en
