Survei Tingkat Parasitisasi dan Upaya Pengembangbiakan Paratelenomus sp. (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae), Parasitoid Telur Brachyplatys sp. (Hemiptera: Plataspidae)
Abstract
Brachyplatys sp. (Hemiptera: Plataspidae) is an insect pest commonly found on turi (Sesbania grandiflora L.). One of the important natural enemies of the pest is an egg parasitoid Paratelenomus sp. (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae). Research was conducted with the objective to determine level of parasitization under field conditions, and to rear the parasitoid in the laboratory. Survey was conducted in four sites i.e. Babakan Lebak, Cikabayan, Cikarawang, and Dramaga. Egg masses of Brachyplatys were collected and brought to laboratory, and number of parasitoids emerged were counted. Rearing of parasitoids was conducted by introducing parasitoid adults into test tube at density of 3, 4, 5, and 6 pairs as treatments. Each treatment was replicated six times. Our research revealed that level of field parastization averaged 50%. Higher number of eggs of Brachypalatys sp. were found in Babakan Lebak i.e. 3.801 eggs with level of parasitization 55.14 %, and fewer number in Cikabayan i.e. 1.136 eggs with level of parasitization 56.34 %. Effort to rear the parasitoids in laboratory was unsatisfactory, since level of parasitization only 10-24%.
