dc.description.abstractForest has an important role in absorbing CO2 which used in the process of photosynthesis to produce O2 and most of the produced energy is in the form of biomass. One type of forest that has biomass storage is peat swamp forest. The purpose of this study is to calculate the potential and the distribution of biomass in the area of peat swamp forest. The results of the study showed that forest biomass on 90 956 ha area are 17 297 664 tons. Distribution of natural peat forest biomass in this area is classified into four classes, they are low grade that has biomass potential less than 215.56 tons/ha, medium grade that has biomass potential between 215.56 to 319.86 tons/ha, high grade that has biomass potential between 319.86 to 486.53 tons/ha, and very high grade that has biomass potential more than 486.53 tons/ha. The spread of peat swamp forest consist of in low grade peat 61 100 ha with 10 387 000 tons biomass, in medium grade 17 600 ha with 4 595 888 tons biomass, in high grade 5 800 ha with 2 195 880 tons biomass and very high grade 200 ha with 118 896 tons biomassen
