dc.description.abstract | The aim of this research was to obtain the profile of leukocyte of dogs which were chronically infected by Babesia sp. This research used thirteen dogs were positive of chronical infection by Babesia sp with parasitemic percentage less than 1% regardless of breed, age, and sex. The blood samples were taken through Cephalic antibachii vein used syringe and inserted to tube with anticoagulant K3 EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid). The count of total leucocytes were analyzed by cell counter-blood analyzer Hemavet®. Blood smears were made for the differential leucocytes calculation. In conclusion, the dogs chronically infected with Babesia sp. generally showed no changes on white blood cells. Leukocyte profile on few dogs individually showed leukocytosis condition with changes on one or few types of leukocyte cell. | en |
