Basic wood properties of Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.) were determined in order to understand its appropriate utilization. In the present works, basic properties of wood were determined through the methods of chemical components and fiber dimensions analysis, in which the experimental factors were growth ring and tree age. The analysis of chemical components consist of the solubility of wood in hot water, cold water, NaOH 1% and ethanol-benzena, α-celullose, hemicelullose, holocelullose, acid insoluble lignin, and acid soluble lignin that was determined based on TAPPI standard and Browning procedure. On the other hand, fiber dimension measurement involved fiber length, fiber diameter, lumen diameter, cell wall thickness, fiber curl and coarseness that was determined based on Kajaani FiberLab standard. It was found that growth ring, tree age, and its interaction significantly influenced the solibility of wood in hot water, whereas tree age significantly influenced the solubility of wood in cold water and NaOH 1%, acid soluble lignin, and total lignin. Furthermore, growth ring, tree age, and its interaction significantly affected fiber dimension and its derivative values, except interaction between them did not influence lumen diameter.en
