Red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is an economically high valued plant which its selling influenced by physical factors such as quality and appearance. Air temperature affects heat unit response and plant phenology which can be used to determine planting period on various environment temperature condition, starting from seed planting until harvesting period. This research aimed to observe temperature and relative humidity vertical profiles around plant canopy and to analyse paranet shading influence toward heat unit and phenology of red pepper plant. The result shows air temperature and relative humidity vertical profile around plant canopy are fluctuative as having lapse rate and inversion pattern at each height.Heat unit of non-shaded and 50%-shaded red pepper plant are 1750 Coday and 2005 Coday respectively (15% greater than without shading). As a whole, using of paranet shading can decrease air temperature by 0.3 oC. Red pepper plant is unsuitable to be planted using 75%-shading because its generative phase become obstructeden
