Physical and mechanical properties of jabon and sengon wood need studied considering both types of wood is a type of wood the most fast-growing in Indonesia. Physical characteristics of wood that needs to be known were the moisture content, specific gravity and density, while mechanical properties tested was bending strength. The results showed that jabon have moisture content, MOE and MOR higher than sengon. Density and specific gravity of jabon was also bigger than sengon wood. Moisture content tended to decrease from pith to bark both for jabon and sengon wood. The shrinkage on tangensial direction was two times larger than that on the radial direction, and longitudinal shrinkage showed a constant from pith to bark. Shrinkage increased from pith to bark both for both jabon and sengon. The largest shrinkage occured at the middle part of tree stem for jabon and sengon. The results of study indicated that the weight loss on jabon and sengon woods was caused by termites attack increased from the pith to the barken
