Merbau is one of famous timber trade. Merbau included in the Fabaceae family which spread from Sumatera to Papua. Research on merbau potential mapping use geographical information systems (GIS) need to be conducted to obtain the data about potential merbau. This research is purposed to explain the most accuratest spatial interpolation method between inverse distance weight (IDW) method toward the kriging method, to explain the most accuratest number of variables, in order to create a map of merbau potential at IUPHHK-HA PT. Wapoga Mutiara Timber 2nd unit (PT. WMT-II) area. Merbau potential value in 2012 is calculated based on data of IHMB at PT. WMT-II. Unrepresented of merbau potential in IHMB plot was estimated by spatial interpolation. Potential map of merbau level of trees and poles are able to use IDW method with 4-classes that is very low, low, medium, and high. The combination of PG, PN, and PV variables with IDW is the best method to create potential map of merbau for each level. Potential map of merbau consist of 2 type map that explain merbau potential level of poles and tree at IUPHHK-HA PT. WMT-II area. Generally, potential of merbau in area of IUPHHK-HA PT. WMT-II as yet available for the level of trees in primary and secondary forest. But, average potential of merbau is low in secondary forest. It is also happened on the level of poles. It indicates that natural regeneration process of merbau is very low.en
