dc.description.abstractFlies are insects that live close to the human environment. Group of flies that often comes to human settlements are mainly from the family Calliphoridae (Chrysomya megacephala (bluebottle)) and Muscidae (Musca domestica (house fly)). Flies are important insects because they are related to public health. M. domestica can be a vector of various diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and worms. Flies around the settlement were many and carry a variety of diseases that can danger the public health. The aims of this study were to determine species diversity and dominance of flies at various locations around disposal garbages in around Bogor Agricultural University Campus Dramaga. Flies collections were performed on the landfills around the residensces, office buildings, schools, cafes, and markets. Flies were collected using a sweep net by swinging it around the landfills. The collected flies were then identified using identification keys. The result showed that the species of flies that found in various locations around the Bogor Agricultural University Campus Dramaga were M. domestica and C. megacephala. M. domestica was dominant in the areas around of residences, schools, cafes, and markets. C. megacephala was dominant in area around the office buildings.en
