The aim of this study is to determine the potency of linear classification method for predicting measurement level of milk production in dairy cattle. Total of 98 dairy cows in Lembang was involved in this research. The measurement on linear classification include 7 traits, i.e., teat length, fore udder attachment, front teat placement, udder depth, rear udder height, central ligament, and rear teat position. The results were categorized in 3 scales. To explore the potency of linear classification method as predictor of milk production, the sampling were conducted on milk production yielded level lactation period. The data was analysed descriptively and the correlation between the 7 traits and milk production was calculated. The result showed that most of linear classification was categorized as middle scales. The significant correlation (p<0.05) between linear classification and milk production was only found in fore udder attachment (r=- 0.269), udder depth (r=-0.283), and central ligament (r=0.234). This study shows that classification of linear potential as a measure of the productivity of dairy cows, but need to study with observations on the same animal during lactation to reinforce this hypothesis.Key words: linear classification, milk production.en
