      Abstract
Methionine is a safe, economic, and high quality feed additive. A study on the effect of methionine supplementation on broiler chicken performance was conducted by using 30 broiler chickens. Broiler chickens were assigned into 3 groups: P1 (control, without methionine supplementation), P2 (0.2% methionine supplementation), and P3 (0.4% methionine supplementation). Parameters measured were growth rate, final body weight, feed efficiency (feed convertion ratio/FCR), and mortality rate. The result showed that 0.4% methionine supplementation significantly increased growth rate, final body weight, and feed efficiency (P<0.05). However, growth rate and final weight were not affected by 0.2% methionine supplementation (P≥0.05). Methionine supplementation increased broiler performance between 7-21 days of age and showed no effect after 21 days of age. It was concluded that methionine usage as a feed additive is recommended in broiler chicken with 0.4% of dose, between 7-21 days of age
