Coastal area of Batang District is used intensively for the center of human activities. The change of land use has increased the medium land vulnerability as much as 3.07 % or 795.16 ha for 23 years. In the Land Management Plan, some of the area for settlement and industrial in the coastal areas of Batang District is located on the medium land vulnerability. Urban forest is needed to maintain the stability of ecology and the environment. Urban forest in the coastal area of Batang District is planned to have the total area of 837.03 ha or 2.54 % of coastal area and 0.10 % of Batang District area and it is spread across the area except for Banyuputih Sub-district. The development of the urban forest has divided into three conservation levels, which are high, medium and low conservation level. The level classification was based on the land vulnerability and land suitability of mangrove forest in the coastal area of Batang District. Based on the 3 conservation levels, the urban forest master plan was expanded into 5 types which are refuge, cultivation, recreation, germ plasm preservation and buffer type.
