Teak wood extractive which mainly contain 2-methylanthraquinone or tectoquinone can be used as a bioadditive of soda pulping. The biomass wastes of teak might be obtained from wood processing industry, such wood waste, bark and sawdust. Previously experiment showed that the addition of teak wood extracts increased delignification selectivity of soda pulping, however, the preparation of wood extracts was not quite simple. This research aims to analyze the effect of teak particle addition to improve the performance of soda pulping. Tested characteristics include yield and residual lignin of pulp. The particle size of wood 60-100 mesh was used as a bioadditive of soda pulping which is equivalent to tectoquinone of 0.05; 0.10; 0.15; and 0.20%, respectively. The results showed that the addition of teak wood particle increased soda pulp yield of 4-6%, reduced residual lignin of pulp, and stabilized the polysaccharide of 5-7% higher than control of soda pulping. The addition of teak wood particle which was equivalent to 0.10-0.20% of 2-methylanthraquinone produced better soda pulping characteristics than that of control.
