dc.description.abstractIndonesia community consists of various ethnic groups who have different knowledge of food plants. However, there is documentation about knowledge and utilization of food plants. The documentation can be done through ethnobotanical study. Purpose of the research was to identify the diversity of the used of food plants by the matbat ethnic. The research was conducted in Tomolol village, Misool islands of Raja Ampat, West Papua, on August-September 2012. The data was collected through observation and interview using purposive sampling method. Based on this research, the ethnic used 63 species of 33 families was the food plants with a predominance of family Arecaceae. The plants were mostly found in the yard and garden, and there were 11 species found wild in lowland forests. People In this ethnic still found nomadic farming system model with traditional agroforestry gardens. Traditional knowledge identified the forbiddean or moratorium the used of plants called “sasi”en
