Pengelolaan Lanskap Habitat Musim Dingin Sikep Madu Asia (Pernis ptilorhynchus) Berbasis Satellite Tracking di Kawasan Talaga Bodas, Jawa Barat
Abstract
Oriental Honey Buzzard (OHB) (Pernis ptilorhynchus) is one of migratory raptor that had been satellite-tracked since 2003. One of area which chosen by OHB was Talaga Bodas, placed in West Java. The objectives of this study were to identify and to compare the core and edge landscape characteristics of OHB‟s winter habitat in West Java, to compare characteristics of OHB‟s winter habitat in West Java with South Kalimantan, and to obtain the landscape management plan of OHB‟s winter habitat in Talaga Bodas area. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) combined with Geographical Information System (GIS) was used to identify and to compare the landscape characteristics. The results of this study were defined by twelve principal components (PCs) and eleven PCs, which were explained by 76% and 76,3% of the data variance in landscape characteristics of core and edge habitats respectively. The basic characteristics of core and edge ii habitats in West Java were related to the nearest distance by semi-plain area (3-8 % slope), the nearest distance by open land, and the nearest distance by paddy field. The difference of core and edge habitats in West Java and South Kalimantan was the conservation areas, where conservation areas of South Kalimantan placed in core habitat, whereas conservation areas of West Java area placed in edge habitat. Landscape management of winter habitat based on period (short and long term) was planned, and the ecotourism based on raptor migration was developed in Talaga Bodas area.
