Crown of god (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl.), a member of family Thymelaeaceae, is one of medicine plants that recently has been used by many people. One of the problems on cultivating this plant is incursion of Heortia vitessoides (Lepidoptera: Crambidae). The aim of this study was to observe the biology of this pest on crown of god. The study was conducted at Insect Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University, from August 2011 to April 2012. Eggs and larvae were collected from the field and then kept in the laboratory. Biological aspects of this pest were observed. The results showed that H. vitessoides has four instars. Eggs layed in cluster consist of 189.88 eggs. Eggs are laid under the leaf surface. Average of egg, larvae, and pupa stadia were 3.75, 18.0 and 7.75 days, respectively. The pupa was dark brown. Longevity of male and female were 3.90 and 4.20 days.en
