| dc.description.abstract | KHDTK Cikampek has main function as forest research and has long been used for tourism activities by the local community. The local communitiy wants this forest to be used as tourism area and hopes to have more involvement in the tourism management. To determine the form of involvement of local community in the tourism management requires some of considerations such as the assesment of knowledge and perceptions towards KHDTK Cikampek and the behavior of the management rights application itself. The outcome of this research can be used to determine form of involvement of the local community in tourism management in KHDTK Cikampek. This research was conducted in July 2012, at the village adjacent to KHDTK Cikampek such as Sarimulya, Cikampek Timur, Cikampek Pusaka, and Kamojing. The methods of data collection were observation, interview with questionaires, and interviews. The respondents were divided into two groups, (1) community requesting for tourism management rights (community A) and (2) not requesting the tourism management rights (community B). The analysis methods in this research were descriptive analysis, Chi Square Test (X2) and Contingency Coefficient (C), and Spearman Correlation Coefficient (Rs). The results showed that there are no differences in demographic and sosiographic character between the community A and community B. The community A generally has a higher knowledge about KHDTK Cikampek than the community B. In addition, the community A has a more positive perception towards KHDTK Cikampek than the community B. The community A in general behave active at intermediete level in tourism management rights application to the administrator. The results showed that there is no significant correlation between knowledge and perceptions about KHDTK Cikampek to the behavior of the torism management rights application. Although the community A generally has a good knowledge and perceptions about KHDTK Cikampek, it does not change the motivation of the tourism management rights application wich is influenced by economic motives. Community-based tourism (CBT) can be implemented in KHDTK Cikampek as a solution to accommodate the public's willingness to be involved in the tourism management in KHDTK Cikampek. The results showed that the local community does not have a well-organized institutions and capacity to manage the tourism activities. Thus, the necessary assistentship and guidance from government organizations or other competent stakeholder is required to develop the community organization and capacity to get involved in tourism management. | en |
