The anoa is protected by law ("Undang-undang No. 5, 1990") and has been classified as an endemic-wild-animal extinction (endangered species). A research had been conducted on this animal, since the second half of 1999 to 2001. The objective of the research is to study and gain knowledge on the animal's characteristics. The studied characteristics are; behavior and adaptation, muscle tissue of the carcass, reproductive cycle, digestive tract, as well as the anoa's feeding and handling methods. Further objective is to find out a solution on the problem of protecting this endangered species. It was suggested that domestication might be one of the problem solving.en
